In the warm, golden light of an Australian summer morning, when the kookaburras laugh from the gums and petals unfurl as though waking from soft dreams, the Garden of Polka Roses comes alive. It is a place whispered about in Nestington; a meadow where roses bloom in joyful bursts of pink, and tiny white dots drift through the air like playful confetti.
From this imagined garden came the inspiration for one of the most beloved textile lines in the world: the famous Flower Sugar collection by Lecien. Collectors treasure it, seamstresses cherish it, and little nesters twirl in it with hearts full of sunshine. As the years have passed, Flower Sugar has grown increasingly rare; a treasure to find, and an honour to sew.
From this precious fabric, the seamstresses of Nestington have stitched a one-of-a-kind beauty:
the Charlotte Emma Dress in Polka Roses
OOAK ~ Sz 3
Flutter sleeves ripple like petals stirred by a summer breeze, while broderie anglaise peeks beneath the hem as delicately as lace resting on a sunlit windowsill. Every fold of the skirt carries the joy of bright December days in Australia;festive, blooming, full of warmth.
And when a little nester twirls, the roses seem to twirl with her, as though remembering the garden they came from. As though gifting her a moment she’ll tuck away like a pressed flower in the pages of childhood.
A rare piece.
A collector’s keepsake.
A dress blooming with beauty.
Handmade in Australia, exclusively for Nurture the Nest.
