The fabric used here is by American designer Cori Dantini, a creative soul who whimsically wishes she could don the attire of her paper ladies and venture through life in their skirts, buns, and neat little boots. Yet, she finds herself grounded in practicality, often ensconced in her studio amidst a colorful chaos of ink stains, glue dabs, and snippets of text-adorned paper that find their way onto her slippers. Contrary to the dreamy settings one might imagine, her creative sanctuary is situated not in an Italian villa, but in the familiar landscape of eastern Washington. Returning to her roots in Pullman, she immerses herself in the artistic craft amidst its serene wheat fields.
A proud alumnus of Washington State University, where she honed her skills with a BFA in painting, Cori has spent years experimenting with various mediums—from brushes and oils to pencils, markers, and, more recently, the digital clicks of her computer mouse. Her artistry evolves through an organic process that weaves together layers and language, eschewing predetermined messages for a more spontaneous form of expression. To Cori, her artwork speaks a language of its own, a kind of visual poetry that captivates and intrigues.
Driven by the simple pleasures of coffee, muffins, and the sharp sweetness of good black licorice, Cori seeks out moments of epiphany. Her aim is to enrich our everyday existence with the depth and texture of her visual narratives, adding a layer of meaning and beauty to the fabric of life.
