In the heart of Nestington; where gum trees whisper ancient secrets and the summer breeze carries the scent of eucalyptus and warm sunshine; the seamstresses of the village gathered for their most joyful task of the year: stitching Christmas magic into fabric.
One bright morning; as kookaburras laughed from the treetops; a bolt of fabric arrived wrapped in shimmering red paper. When the seamstresses unfurled it; they gasped in wonder; for dancing across the cloth were cheerful wreaths; twinkling holly; and the ever-smiling face of Mickey Mouse himself; dressed in the happiest Christmas cheer.
Legend in Nestington said that any garment made from Mickey’s Christmas Wreaths held a special enchantment; a kind of sunshine-Christmas spell that could only exist in Australia; where festive days are filled with barefoot adventures; ocean breezes; and long golden evenings.
The seamstresses worked gently; singing the Christmas Carols of the Dreaming Bushlands; and as they finished the last stitch on the Charlotte Emma silhouette; the dress rippled with a warm glow. It was said that when a little nester twirled in it; wreaths on the fabric would shimmer like tiny stars; and the spirit of Christmas joy would follow them; whether they were decorating gum-nut ornaments; playing backyard cricket; or sharing icy treats on the verandah.
