The windows of the colourful little houses glowed with warmth, Christmas trees stood proudly along the streets, and families hurried home with their arms full of presents. Children in woolly scarves played beneath the falling snow, while little red cars carried Christmas trees home, ready to be decorated before the big day.
And somewhere in the village, behind a brightly painted front door, a little girl was counting the hours until Christmas morning.
