In the sun-dappled corners of Nestington, hydrangeas bloom in endless clusters, their petals shifting with the light, just like memories that never fade. Among those blossoms lives a story close to my heart – a story of my beloved grandmother and the garden she nurtured in Belgium.
She had bushes and bushes of hydrangeas, their blossoms tumbling in shades of lilac, rose, and violet, as if they were painted by the hand of a fairy. I remember wandering through them as a child, brushing my fingers against the petals, feeling as though I had stepped into another world. Those flowers held her love – soft, constant, and full of life.
When I created the Charlotte Emma Dress ~ Hydrangeas in Purple, it felt like bringing that memory to life. The fabric bursts with blooms as lush as the ones in her garden, each petal echoing the beauty of those long summer days in Belgium. The flutter sleeves, edged with lace, seem to carry a whisper of her gentle voice, and the broderie anglaise hem dances like sunlight on the petals.
This very limited collection is more than a dress – it is a love letter to those hydrangeas, to the grandmother I adored, and to the memories that shaped the heart of Nurture the Nest.
